Greece is one of the most beautiful places to get married. From clear skies, blue waters and sunny weather you can expect to have a beutiful wedding at picturesque locations accross the country. You can get married by obtaining a licence from the local Registry Office. It is always good practice to ask your wedding planner or the Registry Office where you are planning to get married so they can advise you exactly what documents are required.
Generally speaking, you will need the following documents to perform a wedding in Greece:
FULL Birth certificate (one for each of the spouses).
VALID Marriage Licences issued by your Town Hall (one Licence or one for each of the spouses) OR VALID Certificates of No Impediment (one for each of the spouses) as long as they clearly state the details of both the bride and the groom (name, surname, marital status, place of residence, occupation, nationality) as well as the place where the proposed wedding will take place (i.e. Rhodes, Greece).
Divorce Absolute (if there is a previous marriage) or death certificate in case of widow/widower.
In case there’s a name or last name change, you need to provide a document that states it i.e. a Deed Poll.
Passports - Photocopies of the identity information page for both parties.
